Introduction

Sylvania offers software upgrade capability for your TV using USB portable memory. After you have completed the software upgrade, your TV will typically perform better. What improvements are made depends on the software you are using as well as the software your TV contained before the upgrade. You can execute the software upgrade procedure yourself. Be aware that the content of this document is addressing technical and software skilled users.

Please Note:
If your model number begins with an "R", please disregard the "R" when selecting your model number. Additionally, your serial number will also begin with an "R". When identifying the correct software version, replace the first letter listed with an "R". For example - If you have an RLC320SSX with serial number RS1Axxx, use the software for LC320SSX - DS1

How do I know if I need to perform a software upgrade?

Software upgrades fix known product issues as well is improve overall television performance. Please see the Software Revision History at the bottom of the page to determine if the software will fix your specific problem.
A software upgrade will only work if you are trying to load a newer version of software than what is currently loaded on your television. In order to check your software version, Select: Setup > Detail > Current Software Info. If the version number is lower than what is listed in this website, a software upgrade is available.
Please refer to your instruction manual for further information.

Preparing a portable memory for software upgrade.

For the procedure you will require an empty USB memory stick.
Note: Only FAT/DOS formatted portable memory is supported.

Look in the top right corner for the firmware version.
If no firmware version is found, the firmware version is old and the device needs to be updated.

Firmware upgrade procedure:

Step 1

Select the Model Number of your TV on the Left side of this webpage

Step 2

Select the option that contains the first 3 digits of your serial number The serial number can be found on the back panel of your television set and on the front cover of your instruction manual. Please note: If you do not see your serial number prefix listed, no software upgrade is available as this time.

Save the *.ecc file and load it to the root directory of a USB removable memory drive. Example of root directory would be "E:\".

Step 3

Unplug the TV from the AC outlet.

Step 4

Insert the USB drive into the set.

Step 5

Plug the set into the AC outlet.

Step 6

If the update does not automatically start, press the power button on the remote or on the set keyboard.
Do not unplug the TV or send a remote command to the TV while the update is in progress as this will damage the TV.

Step 7

When the Software Upgrade Complete screen appears, remove the USB drive, unplug the TV from the AC outlet, then wait for 30 seconds before re-plugging.
